Nishimura Villa
西村家庭園

This small villa is associated with nearby Kamigamo Shrine and is located along a street full of preserved houses known as “the town of shrine official houses” (shake-machi 社家町). The Nishimura were one of several clans of powerful shrine officials to build residences in this area, and this villa from the late nineteenth century, the garden of which dates back to the twelfth century, is the only among these houses open to the public.

Admission: open year-round (temporary closure as of Sept. 2022)
Nearby places of interest: Kamigamo Shrine, Ōta Shrine.
